The protection of the vulnerable lies at the heart of our Christian and Franciscan vocation. Safeguarding is an intrinsic part of our consciousness and the life and mission of our communities and ministries (extract from FMDM Safeguarding Statement).

The Franciscan Centre, under the auspices of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood, is committed to fostering a culture of safeguarding, for the care and safety of its visitors, staff, Sisters, and volunteers. It is in this context that the Franciscan Centre is committed to the Safeguarding Standards adopted by the Catholic Church of England and Wales.

These Standards set out the safeguarding arrangements and practices by which a Culture of Safeguarding can be both built and evaluated. (www.catholicsafeguarding.org.uk)

If you wish to raise a Safeguarding concern, please contact the designated person named on the Safeguarding Statement displayed throughout the building. Please be aware that if a Safeguarding concern becomes known and a member of the Franciscan Centre Team considers someone is at risk, they have the responsibility to report their concern to the appropriate Safeguarding authority.

If you have any questions or concerns about the procedure outlined in this statement, please speak with your spiritual director or Shona Cahill, Franciscan Centre Director.
