Shona Cahill - Franciscan Centre Director

As FCL Director, Shona is responsible for the overall running of the centre. Her main role is in steering the centre in a particular direction through the planning and programming of events. She also offers spiritual direction to guests during retreats and the facilitation of input and prayer for groups coming to visit the centre.

Shona is a lay Franciscan who, whilst originally from Ireland, has lived and worked internationally. Shona spent many years in India in particular, working with those who were materialistically poor and marginalised; people whom she has a deep love for in all contexts.

Shona has an undergraduate degree in Theology, a post-graduate degree in Education, and master’s in International Development. She has always spent her adult life working in a faith context, in faith communities and spiritual development. Alongside various ministries, Shona’s background also includes ten years teaching at secondary level.
Shona is a spiritual director and is passionate about Franciscan theology, with her wholehearted care for creation inspired by the spirituality of Francis of Assisi. She enjoys leading groups in prayer, accompanying others into deeper relationship with God and facilitating group sharing and community building.
